I'm about to open my Stocks and Economics blog with some advice that some of you may consider morally questionable but financially sound. You should buy BP stock.
I know, I get it. They are evil, they are wicked, their executives should be chained to a table and flogged without mercy.
And their stock will go up in value.
British Petroleum (Ticker Symbol "BP" http://www.marketwatch.com/investing/stock/BP)
This is a 57-58 dollar stock. Even if it's not their now it will be again.
BP is a long play, while there's a chance we could see a massive uptick right after this oil spill mess is stopped it's more likely that this stock will be on a very volitile ride for the next 6-8 months.
Which makes it a great one-two year play.
It'll be at least two years before they start having to pay out settlement money and lawsuits. In the meantime they will
